It's getting closer .....

I am so happy to say that yesterday was the first day of winter! But wait don't freak because there is more to it than you are reading.

I truly dislike cold weather, give me 40 to 80 degrees - year round - 24/7 and I am happy as I can be. I dislike the snow and even worse the bitter cold - which by the way we are getting more than enough of both in the past few weeks and days. So why the excitment?

The first day of winter is the shortest day and longest night of the year, this then begins a one more second to each day and then rolls into 2 seconds per day and this then leads to the best thing of all SPRING!!! As each hour goes by from that first winter day the daylight hours begin to (slowly at first) get longer and longer and I can get myself through these nasty days knowing spring is closer and closer.

Ok may sound weird but it's what helps me deal with the snow and cold and ukkkk of winter and I swear it helps me every year. Didn't it seem like we just finished summer, or that fall was just a few weeks ago? Time goes so fast now that before you know it we are into spring and warmth.

Here is my weather for the next 36 hours:

Tonight...Mostly cloudy. Snow likely after midnight. Snow accumulation up to 1 inch. Lows 2 below to 2 above zero. Then temperatures becoming steady or slowly rising. Wind chills as low as 10 below to 20 below zero. South winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.

Tuesday...Periods of snow. Snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches. Highs in the mid 20s. South winds 10 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation 90 percent.

Tuesday Night...Snow in the evening...then freezing rain or snow or sleet after midnight. Snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches. Ice accumulation of less than one quarter of an inch. Lows in the mid 20s. South winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 80 percent.

OK going back to mental programming and remind myself that it's almost over.... :) Rae
